About
Original photos by Katie Sikora
Wax Poet is the pseudonym of New Orleans-based keyboardist Rob Kellner. Having lent his talents to such diverse New Orleans-based artists as Tank and the Bangas, Miss Mojo, Samantha Fish, Maggie Koerner, Kristin Diable, and various Revivalists side projects (among many others), he has now turned his attention toward creating beautiful and evocative music as a solo artist. Kellner is credited as the sole writer, performer, producer, and mix engineer for his debut release.
Wax Poet’s debut EP, “Make Me Whole,” reflects meaning and connection in the midst of modern distraction, isolation, and oppression. The four-song bedroom pop EP is synth-heavy with memorable hooks and electronic elements evocative of Little Dragon, Tame Impala, and Jai Paul, while its honest and vulnerable songwriting speaks to the influence of such contemporary artists as Dijon, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, and Blood Orange. Each track is its own kaleidoscope of rich harmonic colors, infectious grooves, and poignant, minimalist vocals.
